Facetify is a high-performance search and filtering app for Shopify stores. It helps your customers find products faster with lightning-fast search results, intelligent ranking based on sales data, and advanced filtering capabilities. Unlike generic search solutions, Facetify is purpose-built for Shopify with native integrations for Markets, metafields, and variants.

Shopify's native search is basic - it only matches keywords and offers limited filtering. Facetify provides:

No. Facetify is designed for merchants without technical expertise. Installation and setup are done entirely through the Shopify admin and theme editor - no code changes required. Most merchants are up and running in under 5 minutes.

Installation & Setup

Installing Facetify takes about 5 minutes:

  1. Install the app: Click "Install" from the Shopify App Store and approve the permissions
  2. Wait for sync: Your products will automatically sync (1-5 minutes depending on catalog size)
  3. Add to theme: Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize, then add Facetify blocks to your collection and search pages
  4. Configure filters: In the Facetify admin, drag-and-drop to reorder and enable/disable filters
That's it! Your search is now powered by Facetify.

In the Shopify theme editor:

  1. Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize
  2. Navigate to a Collection page template
  3. Click Add section or Add block
  4. Find and add:
    • Facetify Product Grid - Displays your products
    • Facetify Facets - Filter sidebar
  5. Configure settings (columns, products per page, etc.)
  6. Click Save
Repeat for any other collection templates you use.

For the search results page:

  1. Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize
  2. Navigate to the Search results page template
  3. Add the Facetify Search Results block (includes search input, filters, and product grid)
  4. Or add components individually:
    • Facetify Search Input - Search box with autocomplete
    • Facetify Facets - Filter sidebar
    • Facetify Product Grid - Results grid
  5. Click Save

Never. Facetify uses Shadow DOM technology to completely isolate its styles from your theme. This means:

  • Zero CSS conflicts with any theme
  • Your existing styles remain untouched
  • Works with Dawn, Sense, Refresh, or any custom theme
  • No theme file modifications required
If you uninstall Facetify, your theme returns to exactly how it was before.

Product sync time depends on your catalog size:

  • Under 1,000 products: 1-2 minutes
  • 1,000 - 10,000 products: 2-5 minutes
  • 10,000 - 50,000 products: 5-15 minutes
  • 50,000+ products: 15-30 minutes
After initial sync, product updates (new products, price changes, etc.) sync automatically within minutes.

Pricing & Billing

Facetify uses transparent usage-based pricing:

  • Search API: $0.25 per 1,000 searches
  • Autocomplete API: $0.25 per 1,000 suggestions
  • Recommendations API: $0.25 per 1,000 requests
  • Product Indexing: $0.01 per 1,000 products/day
Example costs:
  • Small store (5K searches/mo): ~$1.25/month
  • Medium store (100K searches/mo): ~$25/month
  • Large store (1M searches/mo): ~$250/month

Simply install Facetify from the Shopify App Store. Setup takes about 5 minutes. Your products sync automatically, and you can start configuring filters in the Shopify theme editor right away. You only pay for actual usage - there are no upfront costs or monthly minimums.

Each interaction with your product results counts as a search request. This includes:

  • New search queries

  • Pagination (loading more products)

Features & Capabilities

Facetify delivers search results in under 50 milliseconds (p95). This is faster than human perception - results appear before your customers finish typing. Our OpenSearch-powered backend handles catalogs with millions of products without slowing down.

Facetify has native search support for 33 languages: Arabic, Armenian, Basque, Bengali, Brazilian Portuguese, Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, Galician, German, Greek, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Persian, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Sorani, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, and Turkish. "Native support" means proper stemming, synonyms, and stop-word handling - not just translation.

Facetify's ranking algorithm considers multiple factors:

  • Sales data: Products that sell rank higher (365 days of history)
  • Conversion rate: High-converting products surface naturally
  • Add-to-cart signals: Purchase intent boosts ranking
  • Inventory: In-stock products prioritized
  • Recency: Recent sales boost visibility
  • Relevance: Keyword matching still matters
The result: customers see products they're likely to buy, not just keyword matches.

Yes! Facetify supports variant-level filtering. If a customer filters by "Size: Large", they only see products that have a Large variant in stock - not products where Large is sold out. This prevents the frustrating "available in different options" experience.

Value grouping lets you merge messy variant data into clean filter options. For example:

  • "S", "Small", "SML" → "Small"
  • "Wht", "White", "WHT" → "White"
  • "XL", "X-Large", "Extra Large" → "Extra Large"
This reduces filter clutter without requiring you to edit product data. Groupings can be translated per language.

Technical Details

If you're using a Shopify Online Store 2.0 theme (like Dawn, Refresh, or Sense), installation takes about 5 minutes:

  1. Install the app from the Shopify App Store
  2. Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize
  3. Click "Add block" and drag Facetify blocks where you want them
  4. Save and you're live!
No code editing required. Works with any Online Store 2.0 compatible theme.

Facetify uses progressive enhancement. If JavaScript fails:

  1. The server-rendered skeleton remains visible
  2. A noscript fallback shows basic product content
  3. Your store never shows a blank page
This is important for the ~0.1% of users with JavaScript disabled and for SEO crawlers.
